Here’s the scoop:
{The Virtues of}
Bananas ::
Give you lots of energy without a caffeine or sugar crash. Potassium balances your precious heartbeat, the water element in your body, and gets oxygen to the brain. Typtophan relaxes you like the ultimate comfort food should. Eat after a night of too much to drink to balance your blood sugar or when quitting smoking. And yes, you can even rub mosquito bites with the peel to soothe itching!
Almond Milk ::
Excellent for health of your heart, bones, teeth, skin and eyes.
Walnuts::
Beautiful dose of protein and healthy fat to make you full and balance the sweetness from the bananas. Twice as many antioxidants as other nuts! Who knew ... Boosts brain function; they look like little brains (oh so wise Doctrine of Signatures).
Lucuma ::
Anti-inflammatory, anti-aging. Rich with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Tastes like caramel sweetness (yes, the most popular flavor of ice cream in Peru). (Find the powder at a health food store, brands like Navitas or Sunfood)
Chaga Mushroom ::
My business partner (the famed chocolate lady) ordered this powder on a whim and thank goodness. I realized this was a mushroom that years before I had been entranced by and carried around because I felt it was so special.
Today I did a little research and now I feel a little less crazy that I thought it was so magical before: This mushroom is referred to by the Siberians as the ‘Mushroom of Immortality’, by the Japanese as ‘Diamond of the Forest’, and by the Chinese as the ‘King of Plants’. It is found in sacred Chinese herbal texts written in first century BC.
It grows on trees (sometimes trees as old as 10,000 years) and thus contains all the nutrients and life-force of these trees. It’s also rich with minerals and powerful antioxidants that slow aging and prevent illness. The Russians did extensive scientific research on adaptagens (tonics that help you better adapt to stress and prevent illness) and deemed wild chaga the most powerful (you can find chaga powder at mountainroseherbs.com).
Cinnamon ::
It has been documented to: Balance blood sugar (excellent for weight loss), lower bad cholesterol (LDL), inhibit candida and bacteria growth, boost mental clarity and memory, eliminate headaches, and enhance energy, vitality, and circulation.
I love finding the sacred and wise in the simple things in life and in our kitchens.
It really is the simple things in life that are the most precious.
